Perhaps no event in Rockport history is more well-known than Hannah Jumper's raid of 1856. The 75-year-old served as inspiration to a group of women who had had enough of the town's growing problem with excessive alcohol indulgence. Brandishing hatchets under their shawls, the women stormed into one bar after another, smashing bottles and emptying kegs in the street. That was the end of drinking in Rockport - bars and pubs were outlawed for nearly 150 years.

We created our Hannah Jumper candle with a whiskey fragrance because we imagine it's close to what Rockport's streets smelled like on that fateful day. We've added sweet butterscotch to soften it a bit. Quite strong out of the jar, our Hannah Jumper candle smells warm and delicious while burning.
